We had 12 players increase their max squat by 100+ lbs from the beginning of the fall. Hard work shows. Very excited for how these guys will progress over the rest of their career. And seeing their work ethic, no doubt they will be very good.

Our Fall season has wrapped up, and these young men continue to work hard to set a high standard for BUF Baseball. Our inaugural season kicks off in Spring 2026, as we look to make a big splash competing in the NCCAA DII South Region!

Culture I went to a scout day at an SEC school years ago. The school fed all scouts lunch in their clubhouse locker room, and it was filthy. Dirty clothes, dirty shoes, looked like it hadn't been cleaned or vacuumed in months, etc. It was a mess. The person delivering the food for scouts and players was an older lady by herself. Not one player offered to help her (scouts did). The coach ended up getting fired a year or two later and not one player from that team made it to the big leagues (several high picks). Everything matters. Teams with winning culture clean up after themselves, keep things clean, help people that are trying to help them (the lady delivering the food) and take pride in things others would consider beneath them. The locker room, cages, clubhouse, dugout, field, bullpen, equipment rooms, etc. are all included. Players Take ownership, be prideful, be a leader and treat everything within your program as yours.

@nextlevelbb It's not just about you anymore. This might be your first interaction with a situation where the success of the team is more important than the individual. You will need to put your personal aspirations to the side and do the things the program asks of you to be a winner.

Alright baseball guys. Share your knowledge. The demands of college baseball. What should players going from high school and travel ball to college baseball know? What is your best advice for them?

My biggest regret… Was that I didn’t grow up sooner. I wish I fully comprehended accountability sooner. I wish I understood the difference between the controllable’s and un-controllable’s sooner. I wish I actually knew how to play the game “one pitch at a time” sooner. I spent too many seasons (from HS until my mid 20’s) wasting time blaming my teammates, whining about umpires, talking about coaches and thinking about any other reason to protect myself from the emotions of failure. But I was fortunate the game gave me enough time to wake up before it was too late. Unfortunately that’s not the reality for most weak minded athletes. Once I realized that for as many errors my teammates made behind me, they also saved me hits and runs with the unbelievable plays they made. For as many bad calls I thought the umpires made that hurt me, they also made as many they actually helped me. And it didn’t matter how I felt, the coaches decisions were what was best for the team in that moment. Playing the game “one pitch at a time” means being all in, being completely present, in that moment. That pitch. I cannot throw that pitch with even a shred of thought about what happened on the last pitch that I thought was negative. That’s not being present. There’s no way I can throw this pitch with full conviction while still emotional about the last (even if no one can see it on my face or body language). Longevity in the game demands mental toughness. It doesn’t care about your physical tools. When you meet your match and start competing regularly against those who challenge you day in and day out, it will be what happens between your ears that will allow you to keep moving forward. I highly recommend starting this process towards mental toughness as soon as you can. Parents, be smart with the tones of your conversations. Coaches, be the example they need. Players, focus on the controllable’s and STOP MAKING EXCUSES!!

@nextlevelbb Just because you're not in season doesn't mean training is less important, actually it's more important. The main focus right now is not winning or losing, it's developing and preparing for the spring. If you're waiting until spring to turn it up, you're falling behind.

The grinders know. Fall baseball (competitive games) combined with the weight room is how they separate from the competition.

This team continues to amaze me. Last night after a tough loss not only ending their season but ending the last life Birmingham Southern College had still in existence, the team asked coach; instead of flying back, could they have 1 last road trip/bus ride together as a family… So guess what coach did… 🚌 #AmericasTeam

We like to keep it PG on the scoop - cryptic if you will. But scoops scoop. Heard a D1 in the Great Lakes area that made a change, had a team meeting with a new coach next day and something has changed and now there is a National Search to be announced soon. Gotta love it. You'll all see soon. 😉

@nickstrong Exactly. Very rarely does a player start for 4 years in college. You only have a few years of college ball, and time flies. Make the most out of it, no matter what your role on the team is right now. And that starts with being a quality teammate

Freshmen in college------ Find a way to embrace not getting as much playing time as you did in high school. Coach has a plan for you, but you must show that you're ALL IN with waiting.

D1 isn’t easy to play at. D2 isn’t easy to play at. D3 isn’t easy to play at. NAIA isn’t easy to play at. JUCO isn’t easy to play at. No matter the level it’s not easy to get there and play. Embrace your team and appreciate that you get to play this game. #RecruitAll

Baserunning 1. Awareness starts with knowing the situation and running with your head up. 2. Base coaches are only needed for balls behind you...anything in front should be your decision based on feel and instincts. 3. Extra bases win games. A hard turn, bobble and extra base can change a game. 4. Knowing how to slide, and which slide to use is a big part of baserunning. 5. Secondary leads (slide ups) should be aggressive and controlled. What else?
