@runnermandoc Hi Martin, just seen your post & wanted to say in addition to my ongoing hydration work, I’m now working 3 x 8-8 hrs in my local Minor Injury Unit. Have to say that supporting people with frailty issues is still a significant challenge- particularly after 17:00hrs & weekend

Having had a hand in creating some of the principles and rules behind frailty same day emergency care (SDEC), I must say that the reality of getting older people with moderate or severe frailty safely home from ED same day is considerably harder than it might seem.. 😕

Thank you for your response @runnermandoc - unfortunately the risk of ‘very’ long lies will become the norm unless the combined systems can find a way of freeing up ambulances waiting to off load at ED. Meanwhile the fallen vulnerable must wait for hours ..and hours on the floor

@hydrationlead @GeriSoc Well certainly lying on the floor following a fall is not good for anyone, but especially older people Long lie after a fall is strongly associated with serious injuries, admission to hospital, and subsequent moves into long term care 👇 bmj.com/content/337/bm…

We really need to stop making it so hard for NHS staff to go to work A huge number of NHS workers have to cope with inadequate public transport, insufficient and unsafe parking for cars and bikes, and exorbitant costs Something needs to be done urgently - please RT if you agree

A frail & vulnerable family member fell at his home today found by his carers who called for ambulance at midday as can’t get him off floor and heavily soiled. We have been waiting with him for for 10 hrs with still no eta😞. What a very sad state of affairs @RCHTPtExp @swasFT

A similar scenario: 8 weeks ago a friend who lives in a #Cornish residential home fell at 7pm. Care staff couldn’t get her up so was left on the floor until ambulance arrived at 7am! Where is the accountability for such failing services? @NHSKernow @HWCornwall @swasFT #frailty
