I am saddened to hear of the passing of Andrew DeGroot who was a long time Brampton resident and loved our City with a passion. I first got to know Andrew as a volunteer on an opposing Mayor campaign in 2018 but shortly after the election we went out for refreshment and quickly became good friends. I realized he had ton of good ideas and legitimate concerns about some of the practices of the old guard in the City. He leaves a legacy of support for enhanced public transit, support for first responders, our downtown and active transportation. My condolences to his family and friends. He has been taken from us far too young.
