After some testing with the Steam Controller, I can already tell with the right bindings this would be a really relaxing way to use Hyperbeam!
-Easy toggle keyboard
-Static keyboard key positions with haptic feedback
-Multiple options for mouse movement (Joystick, Touchpad, and Gyro)
-Easy customization to tweak to your own liking
If you have a Steam Controller, I'd love to hear your preferences on controls. Do you have a favorite button or gesture to toggle Gyro? Do you use the keyboard? Let me know!

@LtShadow_ If only our team saw this before reaching out to them about integration.

Lately, lots of scams on Discord DMs, and as a server owner I think I'm starting to see a new one.
We all get reports of users who have their account stolen and are posting virus links. The natural reaction to seeing a screenshot of that just becomes. "Oh, not again.." and you ban them.
Lately, I've been seeing situations where these screenshots are faked. It's not just as simple as harassing a person, they are using it to pretend to be discord/server staff with the ability to ban people. They tell staff a person is hacked, they get banned, then they reach out to that person pretending they are the one that banned them.
No scam looks convincing from the outside looking in. We can all look at this and scoff it off, but given enough attempts, this sort of thing will fool someone at the wrong moment.
So, if you run a discord server, do not trust screenshots. Have people use the forward feature to send you the real message from Discord itself.

English

When what happens? I linked you the announcement that they have joined.
Hyperbeam had someone in the process of reaching out to that platform to introduce our product and try out their platform, but they didn't last to that stage unfortunately.
You may personally choose to boycott a platform, but I choose to take real action to make things better and actually make changes that could save exploited children. Your post seemed to imply my few twitter comments on this topic means I haven't tried to help VRChat with their mistakes. They are a huge platform, mistakes are going to happen.
Because they are willing to do things like join the tech coalition, no, I will not stop using or working with VRChat.
English

@hyperbeamapp @Shodah10 @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC Well we will know when that happens. What I've done is not using vrchat, will you do that? No, people will do this instead of giving a fair try to other platforms. The mandatory age verification is pretty strong to prevent that, not perfect, but way better than anything else
English

@OneMoreBenjamin @Shodah10 @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC "Why not put this effort on the minors being exposed and groomed in vrchat" So.. yes. I have.
What have you done?
Somnium doesn't have this issue because it doesn't really have users. If it had users, it would have issues. All platforms that get users eventually do.
English

@hyperbeamapp @Shodah10 @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC Did that fix it? What I didnis I stopped using VRChat and use Somnium, where that doesn't happen, I recommend it.
English

@OneMoreBenjamin @Shodah10 @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC I suspect you are not aware of what Lantern is or all the good it does. Most general people do not because it's more of a tech industry thing.

hello.vrchat.com/blog/vrchat-jo…
English

@OneMoreBenjamin @Shodah10 @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC I did, actually. I had former co-workers introduce them to Lantern. What have you done?
English

@hyperbeamapp @Shodah10 @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC man, to go through all this trouble just cause they have a problem with another platform existing and trying to be good and safe. Why not put this effort on the minors being exposed and groomed in vrchat? Just cause..you use it? I'll never get it.
English

@Shodah10 @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC Huge difference? Please explain the difference. This is not effective damage control. You may want to hire a PR firm.
If you didn't do any of this, no one would be on the hacker idiots side. The issue here is private user data safety. That is also a very serious topic.
English

@hyperbeamapp @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC Do I say "their real name is dropped"
Or do I say "their name is dropped"
Huge difference here.
Keep reaching this pathetic rhetoric.
Hacker comes in, we joke drop a meme name and we're the ones under fire? NOT THE HACKER?
Worlds gone to shit.
English

The statement of having the info sounds bad on it's surface, but in context it's less severe. It was said in reference to the person threating some form of attack. To the extent, I'm not aware, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here.
To me, it sounded like they could take legal action. When brought up like that, it does sound like people may assume he planned on leaking it publicly in retaliation. I personally don't believe that is the case.. maybe I'm wrong? I doubt it.
However, none of their justifaction matches using a 'random name' for a john doe when anyone on the internet would refer to the username.
The screenshot of them saying his name was dropped just makes it that much worse.
English

It's pointless. I have confirmation it's his actual name.
Even if he did mean "John" as in "John Doe", saying it immediately after touting "I have all of his info, I have all of his info and we can use it if he does anything malicious." - will simply not hold up meaningfully at all.
It's his name, he used it maliciously, and he did so right after touting that he has a KYC database containing his name.
It's over.
English

Referring to people as john doe in situations outside of legal proceedings where the user is unknown. It's a term only used when another, like a username, is not known. Why use a name instead of the clearly showing username? And why say this afterwards? Is this a joke too?
Who says "Their name is dropped. They get scared and bail." referencing the use of "John Doe"?
Is this a fake screenshot?

English

@FallacyHunters @LumiiVRC It happens, some platforms are destined to fail. I feel bad for any passionate employees trying to make something cool held back by that.
English

@hyperbeamapp @LumiiVRC The platform is paid by a crypto bro. There will be no leadership change. Its the owner and his irl friend running the show.
English

Leaking your user's registered data is never smart, even if you are "joking". They later claim it was a made up name, but in context, I don't believe it.
Keep VR safe guys. Thanks for shedding a light on this before it became a larger issue, @LumiiVRC
If this platform acts like this with 5-15 regular visitors daily, I don't ever see them becoming a notable player in the space without drastic leadership changes.
that one pink fox@LumiiVRC
English

Are you trying to tell me this is the reasoning for him not calling a person by their username in a voice call, as if that is a normal interaction online? Rest assured, in my decades in tech, it is not.
I'm not sure what the line about VRChat is about, or what it has to do with this situation.
English

@hyperbeamapp @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC "John Doe" is a placeholder name used in legal systems (primarily US, UK, Canada) to identify a male whose true identity is unknown, concealed, or for anonymous parties in court cases.
Hence the "John" being said ...
VRChat players trying to one up a joke.
English

I've seen the video, a name was said. Whether or not it was real seem to the question. Let us ask ourselves this question, if the name was not real, why address the person by a name like that, instead of their username? The person in question has since said that is indeed their real nae.
Now lets go a bit past that part where the hacker leaves. I believe something along the lines is said of "If he does anything, we have his name and address" This statement in itself isn't bad, obviously go after someone doing something malicious, but it's said right after referencing a name. Also there is the quote of you saying "his name was mentioned and he went quiet." Not a direct quote, forgive me.
You can keep beating around this bush, but lets roll back to the start, why mention the name regardless? And why THAT name specifically? These questions aren't being answered. Your inability to not see why this is a problem is astounding.
I am aware that two of you claim it was not a real name, but now I would like to know why it was said if it was not. Until then, I can't believe that, and it's not looking like anyone else does either.
English

@hyperbeamapp @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC There would have been no fine, no one's confirmed private information was disclosed, visually or verbally.
English

@Shodah10 @BobbyThedog11 @BasedGoldShip @LumiiVRC As I said, that hacker idiot was from the US, that is why it was not a GDPR violation. If they were from the EU/UK, that would have been a very hefty fine.
Hacker or not, you cannot distribute user private information such as a name like that.
English

Hey, some clarification. It is not illegal for them to have access to information you submitted to them through stripe. It is against GDPR to share that info, but only if that person is from the EU/UK. In looking into the situation, they dodged a €10 Million fine because that hacker was from the US.
The US has no such protections comparable to GDPR. Instead, sharing that info just makes people not trust how you will treat their data, and rightfully so.
English

I have watched the video, which is why I referenced it in my original tweet. He also says something along he lines of "we have his full name and address if he does something" after saying the persons name.
Hackers should be dealt with, but not like that. He clearly doesn't have much experience running a community of any sort.
English

@discord @discord_support I really appreciate @CurseForge making a statement about this issue x.com/CurseForge/sta…
CurseForge@CurseForge
Heads up: We're seeing bad actors on Discord that are using modpack .zips to spread malware. Import files from trusted sources only! The CurseForge app will alert you if an imported zip contains any files not hosted on CurseForge (see below). Stay safe!
English

At this point @discord and @discord_support really need to step up and do something. A large group of indie Vtubers are having accounts stolen, and a whole partnered server is currently compromised.
Of all things, a partnered server should be able to get some support. Please spread the word and help them. The scam message to test a game should be proof enough.

‼️WARNING‼️ @ENVtubers DISCORD HAS ALSO BEEN COMPROMISED There is a new server. But if you received anything from @ENVtubers, please also block and report them as they are using mods to make it look legit that they are “making a game” and would like you to test them
