Deadlines for PQCrypto2026 are around the corner! Papers must be _registered_ by 31 Oct pqcrypto2026.irisa.fr/callforpapers.… You can still update your submission for another week, with the final submission deadline on 7 Nov. You cannot register new papers during that period. Get yours in now!

If you're good at talking to politicians, contact your representatives, in particular in countries still undecided. Many don't understand the risks and implications and fall for the emotional arguments. I appreciate the attitude but this exposes us to hacking & mass surveillance

Our "Joint statement of scientists and researchers on the EU Presidency’s new proposal for the Child Sexual Abuse Regulation" has reached more than 700 signatures. If you're scientist, consider co-singing. Proposal would be a security nightmare, but many states consider approval

My colleague, Lorenzo Grassi, has another PhD position open. tue.nl/en/working-at-… Deadline stated is 12 Oct but the position will close as soon as a candidate is found. Starting date no sooner than Mar 2026. Applications must be received via the TU/e page.

@DGligoroski @hashbreaker I wish it was an April fools joke :-/ but the ProtectEU document links to a report from a High Level Group (on crypto backdoors) that presented just what the ProtectEU document says & gives the same timeline. HLG was mostly law enforcement, as you may imagine

One thing about the date should be clarified to remove all potential unserious interpretations for this potentially extremely serious development towards Orwelian society: “On 1 April, the European Commission published its new Internal Security Strategy, ProtectEU, setting out its plans for the next five years. This included an announcement to prepare a Technology Roadmap on encryption that has raised several questions because of plans to enable law enforcement authorities access to encrypted data.”

EDRI is raising an alarm over the EC's plan to issue a technlolgy roadmap "lawful access to encrypted data" during Q2 this year. The same strategy document ProtectEU in other places pushes for privacy and for post-quantum cryptography. linkedin.com/posts/european… Critical to act now!

Eurocrypt talk today says that in 2^529 operations it can tell that a mceliece348864 public key is a public key. IACR has been refusing to post the Classic McEliece Team response classic.mceliece.org/mceliece-529-2… on eprint (IACR's preprint archive for "any author" to post crypto research).
