I'm always excited to meet people who are optimistic about the future, think that we can be so much more than we are now, and have experience with bringing dreams into the physical world. hyperturing.com

We made it. It’s hard to describe how much work, intensity, sweat (literal when walking down the ship ox tank or frustum), and passion went into S39 from my ship stage RE team and entire ship and booster teams and everyone else. It’s always this the amazes me on a successful launch like this, and this most of all: how I have the honor to witness and live alongside fellow humans and friends driven by their infinite desire, each one expressing it in the way that was given, either be a thermal fluids analyst, or a supply chain engineer, or a cook or a gnc engineer or a build engineer or a technician. Starships, and men, are meant to fly.

bizzare to me that many people think the future should have less human diversity. it seems so obvious to me that we will splinter in every possible way and that every possible accomodation should be made for that process

bizarre that this is being viewed as plausible before sufficient proof. EVEN if it ends up correct, i’d still think it’s incorrect to act as of there’s any meaningful chance of validity.

@loombotic We’re launching the world’s first quick-turn, high-mix, fully automated wire harness production line. Our goal is to make wire harnesses as fast and easy to order as PCBs or sheet metal. Customers can already upload a harness design and get an instant quote. Starting today, these parts can now be produced on our automated line. We’re starting with Mini-Fit Jr., with more connectors coming soon.

there is no way you actually need single crystal blades to make cost effective power production turbines. people love overcomplicating stuff
Gaurab Chakrabarti@Gaurab

Four foundries on Earth cast the single-crystal blades and vanes that let a gas turbine convert 1,500-degree gas into electricity. PCC and Howmet hold about 80% of the single-crystal market. Doncasters and CPP take most of the rest. Every heavy-frame gas turbine ordered in the past 18 months is sold out through 2030. Elon Musk on @dwarkesh_sp traced his own xAI Colossus power problem one layer down past the turbines and landed on the blades. He said SpaceX and Tesla will likely have to cast their own. We manufacture chemicals. Casting a single-crystal blade is not a metallurgy problem. It is a chemistry problem. The four foundries that cast them spent thirty years driving sulfur down to parts per billion and oxygen down to parts per million. Vacuum, gradient solidification, and mold chemistry are why nobody else can cast them. The bottleneck is chemistry.

Happy Mother's day to my darling Cassie, now officially a mom as of a few days ago. There has never been anyone else for me but you. Our fates are intertwined, and our love has taken form in the shape of our beautiful boy. Welcome to this wonderful world: Archiel Revere McCoy.
