Reminder: This Tuesday, August 27th, MDOT will be hosting an open house at Alkebu-Lan Village , to present updates on the McClellan Avenue Bridge Removal occurring in late 2024. Join us from 6 to 8 PM to hear about the removal plan and detour routes along the project corridor.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is planning to remove the McClellan Avenue bridge over I-94 in late 2024. Join this open house to hear about the removal plan and learn more information from the MDOT project team.

A new complete streets bridge will be constructed four blocks west at Rohns Street. Please visit the i94detroit.org for additional details.

Demolition of this bridge is scheduled to take place later this year as part of the ongoing I-94 Modernization Project. The McClellan Avenue bridge will not be replaced as part of the future construction due to upgrades to the Gratiot Avenue interchange.

Following a recent routine bridge inspection, MDOT has completed an emergency closure of the McClellan Avenue Bridge over the I-94 corridor, due to its condition. (1/3)

(3/3) Northbound pedestrian traffic will be detoured via northbound Gratiot Avenue, westbound Harper Avenue, to McClellan Avenue. Southbound pedestrian traffic will be detoured via eastbound Harper Avenue, southbound Gratiot Avenue, to McClellan Avenue.

(2/2) All ramps throughout this area will also be closed, including I-75, Chene Street, and Mt. Elliott Street. Eastbound I-94 will remain open. Westbound I-94 will be detoured via southbound I-75 and westbound I-96 to westbound I-94.

I-94 Traffic Update  Weather permitting, beginning 9 p.m. Friday, April 5, through 5 a.m. Monday, April 8, westbound I-94 will be closed between I-75 and M-10 for beam installation of the Cass Avenue bridge over I-94.  (1/2)

Scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. and end by 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, westbound I-94 will have one lane open from I-75 to M-10 (Lodge Freeway) for ongoing work at the Cass Avenue bridge. During work hours, the northbound and southbound I-75 ramps to westbound I-94 will be closed.

Ramp traffic will be detoured via eastbound I-96 and northbound I-75 back to eastbound I-94.

I-94 Traffic Update Weather permitting, installation of bridge foundations and a traffic shift will require closing the eastbound I-96 ramp to eastbound I-94 starting at 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8. The ramp is expected to remain closed until the end of the month for bridge work.

Weather permitting, bridge work will require eastbound I-94 to have one lane open from East Grand Blvd to Frontenac Street starting at 8 p.m. Friday and ending by 5 a.m. Monday. During the same time, the eastbound I-94 entrance ramp from Mt. Elliott will be closed.

Weather permitting, bridge work requires EB I-94 to have one lane open from I-96 to Linwood Ave from 8 p.m. Fri., July 21 until 5 a.m. Mon., July 24. The EB and WB I-96 ramps to EB I-94 will also be closed in that time. To detour, use EB I-96 to NB I-75 back to EB I-94.
