Dorothy from Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is the only character of her kind that I can think of. At least, the only kind of her character type that isn't spun as comedic. A character who so desperately wants to put on the mantle of villain. Who wants to be evil. To be angry. Vengeful. Hateful. Spiteful. Who wants to be the wicked witch so bad. But she isn't. She is *bad* at being bad. She couldn't help but feel good for helping people. She couldn't stop herself from taking the long way to her 'revenge'. Dorothy is the second most powerful of the Grimms models, the only member of her squad to outpace her was Liliweiss herself. She could have burned the Ark to the ground the first day she showed up. But she didn't. She was stalling, subconsciously avoiding taking her revenge the easy way. Because deep in her heart, deep in her soul... She's a Goddess of Victory. She always was, and she always will be. Her place was *always* to be among other Goddesses, not alone plotting vengeance or seething in her pain. She was lost in her pain for so long. She lost so much. But despite everything. Despite her actually *BELIEVING* she was an enemy of mankind. She never was. She thought the betrayal had truly turned her cold. But it didn't. Under all the cold airs she put on... Ultimately, she could never really suppress that warm flame that she, and her Goddess sisters, all had. Maybe there's just a lot of fiction I haven't experienced, so this hits more than it would otherwise. But I have never seen a character try *so hard* to be a fallen angel, only to find her divine wings had never broken. God, I love Nikke.

I am so happy Dorothy gets a redemption arc. I was so worried about her...her heart was always in the right place, but I always worried she wanted revenge more after the Ark mistreated her... But when the time came, to take out her revenge, her heart softened.... she couldn't pull the 'trigger', literally. Her heart wasn't set in stone, eventually. I am so glad she still can be able to forgive the people who betrayed her. This takes so much more personality and courage than anything, to admit you've been wrong. I have so much more respect toward Dorothy now.
