@flurryfrenzy Tell that to Bumblebee Man. His poor Spanish was also a negative stereotype in the early season. However, they recently reworked the character in an episode and he is done so much better, and feels like a love letter to Mexico and slapstick comedy.

I dunno, I liked Apu and he was definitely more than the sum of his parts in some ways, but he still was a racist stereotype that negatively impacted not just Hari but many other Indians as a result. I dont think going cold turkey was the only solution but it was prob the best

@JudyWinslow_fm You could add the 3D alien prop while leaving the 2D cutouts and it would create a sense of depth. It’s a common trick used in the classic Fantasyland style dark rides.
Instead, they felt the need to replace them with coloured cylinder of light (many such cases).

@AnimeSerbia I miss Apu. There were several episodes where he was allowed to truly shine, a three dimensional character that we came to know and love over the years.
Later seasons he would primarily mention his Indian heritage or the Kwik E Mart, but most characters got flanderized tbf
