My 3 year old son and I burst some crackers yesterday. This was the most 'fun' part for him during this Diwali. I fondly remembered my childhood of burning crackers with my dad. And, recalled numerous childhood memories. It is sad that 'burning crackers' is now being associated with 'pollution' in Delhi/NCR. And, people are lecturing what others should/should not do. This is not about being rightist or leftist, it is about being a rationalist. And, understanding that all of us have grown up following certain traditions. And, all people should be allowed to follow those traditions without embroiling them in debates. Yes, Delhi has air pollution issues. Today, is day AFTER Diwali. There is roughly 1 year to go till next Diwali. Authorities should come up with a detailed plan. And, not look for last minute easy fixes: like odd-even or ban crackers. This is like putting a band-aid on a broken hand.
