On Oct. 5, a frustrated Mecole Hardman told me, “When I was in KC, I proved that I was probably the most dangerous guy in the league on the jet sweep or the end-around or on the screen. I think I proved year out that I was that guy that you had to worry about doing that.” He said he was “just waiting for my opportunity.” Who could’ve imagined he’d be traded a couple of weeks later to KC and that he’d wind up a Super Bowl hero? The NFL is great. #SuperBowl

@RobbySabo @EagleFangMaster Odd because I've only ever heard the opposite since that season.. I'm going to assume Coles is miss remembering and Eric was just trying to be a good coach and sell it to the team. Or maybe Eric's agent trying to scape him from the story. I still believe he didn't want favre.

@EagleFangMaster Ok. I’m gonna absolutely believe Coles then. Either way, I’m with those who believe it was a good trade. As much as I loved Chad, it was the right move at the time.

Nah, not only did Mangini not go after Favre, but he also didn’t even want him. Favre was thrust upon him. It’s never a good sign when your best coaching years overwhelmingly happen in the first two seasons of a total six. When it’s, “All downhill from here,” you gotta believe that the coaching success was greatly attributed to the sparkling roster that was handed to him. Then, to boot, he fails spectacularly in Buffalo—away from Idzik. 100%, Rex deserves credit for the way he coached up those 2009 and 2010 teams. What he did to bum-rush the league in 2009 with his elaborate upfront schemes and pressures (Week 1 in Houston comes to mind) was impressive. But it evaporated too quickly—as the league swiftly figured it out. Mainly, IMO, his greatest quality was that he surrounded himself with what I believe was arguably the best and deepest coaching staff in the game at that time (Callahan, Westhoff, Lynn, Sutton, Pettine, I’ll even shout out Henry Ellard, etc.), and his team ran through walls for him. Nonetheless, Rex would be an outright disaster in today’s NFL. The roster he inherited was way too talented to have it fall apart so quickly—starting in 2011.

@RobbySabo Mangini went after Favre. Horrific trade. Led one of the most epic collapses in Jets history. Deserved to be fired. Rex Ryan is the last Jets coach in 50 years who has been somewhat relevant. As a Jets fan…. Sign me up for Rex!

@BuffaloJetFan Agreed man. If Rodgers didn't get hurt I would understand more why people were upset. Once Rodgers went down the McDonald pick can't be mad at anymore. Year was lost, perfect year to let the keep develop now.

@JetsAGNB I'm skeptical he fetches the sames as Darnold did even with finishing the year strong. I also wonder if both team and him wish for a clean break. I remember the rumors before Rodgers got here were that he already had one foot out the door. And then last week, a lot to wonder

Very torn on #Jets Zach Wilson staying or trading him I hope he balls rest of year ! He has so much upside and when he does play good he looks like a top 10 QB He has massive highs and lows If he could consistently play like last week and chiefs game he would be a top 10 franchise QB No way we can’t get at least the Sam Darnold package if he closes year strong He was just best player in AFC outplayed Mahomes and stroud

Jets QB Zach Wilson has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 301-yard, two-touchdown passing performance vs Houston. #Jets

BREAKING: #Jets LT Mekhi Becton is being carted back to the locker room. This would be a blow. Injuries have been an issue for Becton throughout his career. This season he was among his healthiest.

Good news for the #Jets: This is a good week to have an injury in the secondary because #Broncos QB Russell Wilson isn't good at football anymore. Still, I think #NYJ have two options to replace CB D.J. Reed (concussion) with Brandin Echols (hamstring) also out. - Move Michael Carter outside. Not a huge fan of this one. It's possible, but not without risk. Carter was drafted and has played almost entirely inside throughout his career. Seriously. Of his 1,693 career defensive snaps, just 12 have come outside. You'd basically be asking him to play an entirely new position. Don't love that. Plus you'd basically be weakening two positions — outside corner and the slot spot Carter is vacating. Would remind me of when the Jets asked Braxton Berrios/Jamison Crowder to play outside receiver. Now you're bad outside and not as good inside. - Bring in Bryce Hall. This is potentially the easiest option & what I'd do. Hall, a former fifth-round pick, is an outside corner. He just hasn't been particularly good throughout his career. He's had ProFootballFocus grades of 59.9, 63.2 and 41.8 his first three years. He was a little bit better in the preseason this year — 59.7 mark including 64.4 in coverage. The Jets can mask some of his struggles by shading coverage his way while leaving Sauce Gardner on an island on the other side. Granted, Robert Saleh & Jets have gotten creative before with their alignments after suffering injuries (specifically on the offensive line). We'll see if they pull something else funky here.

@NYJetsTFMedia Harrison while I understand and somewhat agree there's really nothing left to lose, the problem with that is, unfortunately him playing like he did last week is better than letting him rip and having 3 interceptions and 2 pick sixes in the first 3 drives. Sad reality, but truth

I want to see no-fear Zach Wilson Sunday night He has to know his stats. He has to know he's at risk of losing the team. Just about everyone doesn't believe in him anymore, & no one sees him as the #Jets answer at QB The old quote: "The most dangerous creation of any society is the man who has nothing to lose."- James Baldwin Zach was playing with fear last Sunday cause he thinks there's something to lose. He needs to realize it's already gone, & just go out there & ball Play football. Air it out It really can't be any worse

@JetsAGNB Yeah I think they always knew Max's peak was a good back up. He got thrusted into a shitty situation last year with all the injuries. But no way do they actually see Wes, turner or max as capable starters.

The Deep Dive on the #Jets OL #Jets may not have their Swing Tackle in 2nd year Max Mitchell but they feel confident he’s at the minimum a long term Back up RT to a Starter. Max Mitchell wasn’t able to put on the weight he needed bc of health issue that moving forward won’t hold him back in that regard He was moved to LT to RT to LT to RT Never getting settled at one spot is a lot but it is great to get the backups many starter reps to build a strong group with versatility for a Super Bowl Run ! #NYJ is the deepest #1 DL Rotation in NFL so that also will make this OL much better on game day With starters healthy #Jets have a good OL with a lot of Upside on Right-side LT- Duane Brown LG- Laken Tomlinson C- Connor McGovern RG- AVT RT- Mekhi Becton Becton healthy has elite all pro upside & he needs to earn the trust of team & fans but there is no question at all …. When he is on the field Jets have a much better OL #NYJ also have some starting caliber quality depth pieces in Rookie standout Joe Tippman - Wes Schweitzer - Mitchell & Turner

Hope he can stay healthy to prove himself because he has talent. I will say I never thought he was ready to go so high. He should have stayed in school or transferred to Big Ten. He just needed more experience.

I am going to pull the curtain back a little bit on draft strategy. First of all, many of our teams are aiming to only draft players we have a 4th or 5th round grade on so in round 7 we are likely taking a player we put a late 4th or late 5th round grade on and not a 7th rd grade
