It was SUCH an honour to speak at the Australian Medical Students'​ Association National Convention in Melbourne today. I had SO MANY great conversations with the amazing medical students in attendance. 🙌👾 Thanks for letting me share the 14-year journey of Geeky Medics!

@docib Despite the labelling here, the case collection features a mix of VBGs and ABGs - something we were also passionate about!

My regular reminder that we should stop asking medical students to interpret ABGs and should teach them about VBGs instead (similar but different).

@iLeW oh goodness 💀 honestly, it wasn’t really jest! most (if not all) of my cohort has made it to final year because of GM. Covid meant that our unis couldn’t teach us osce skills properly so your work has been a genuine lifesaver for those of us who started on the wards in 2020!!

If we really want to plan for the future we need to instil decision making and clinical reasoning from day 1 of medical school, alongside a balanced approach to risk. It may even involve teaching about Bayesian thinking and likelihood ratios (but don’t call it statistics).
