About me: I designed and implemented backend systems that serve traffic to 100+ million daily users across the US and Canada. Previously a full-stack developer (web, desktop, and some mobile), I’ve transitioned to focus solely on backend work. My extensive experience, often involving 60-80 hours per week, is under NDA, leading to a limited online presence. Now, I’m dedicating time to personal projects and sharing my expertise. I post about programming in general, backend, cloud, containers, databases, and OSS. You'll probably see some occasional memes. I like many languages, including Clojure, Kotlin, Scala, Rust, Zig, and Elixir. But C# and F# will always be special to me.

We're nowhere near singularity nor digitalizing human brains.

While everyone's talking about this team and their experiment, a Chinese group of researchers has actually published a paper about the same thing. arxiv.org/html/2602.17997 Meanwhile, Michael and his team didn't publish any papers nor detailed articles about their work.

We've uploaded a fruit fly. We took the @FlyWireNews connectome of the fruit fly brain, applied a simple neuron model (@Philip_Shiu Nature 2024) and used it to control a MuJoCo physics-simulated body, closing the loop from neural activation to action. A few things I want to say about what this means and where we're going at @eonsys. 🧵

@nickproud No, real 10+ years old apps have hundreds of files with over 10k LOC each. I'm staring at a class like that right now...

C# – Expectation vs Reality Expectation: Clean architecture, SOLID principles, domain-driven design. Reality: One 3,000-line class called Helper.cs

Why do academics write code like this in papers? Wouldn't a real language make more sense?

@CFDevelop @jgarc186 You can set your IDE/code standards config/git config to create/convert all files to use LF. I'm on Win 11 and all of my files use LF.

@Wishcraft_Music @DarthPedro99 @ThePrimeagen It still keeps making stuff up. Just last week I wasted 2 hours trying to make it build one concrete and small feature for me. It kept using methods that don't exist. I eventually had to open the official docs and do it myself in 5 minutes.

@DarthPedro99 @ThePrimeagen Not everyone enjoys it, but vibe coding is really just a much faster way to look up libraries and methods

@DarthPedro99 @Havens_Nook @ThePrimeagen Exactly. I save hours when it finally generates a good chunk of code/script/config, but then I waste days fighting/rewriting the rest of the crap it produces. Net productivity is probably negative.

@Havens_Nook @ThePrimeagen was it truly faster though? and how did you measure doing it both ways? there was a recent study showing experienced programmers are actually slower using AI to complete specific tasks.

@StephenPHassall Nice work. It's interesting that more blocks give me better FPS than less blocks.
