Con esto, me acabo de enterar que en España el sistema de donación de órganos funciona con consentimiento presunto: por ley, todas las personas son potenciales donantes al fallecer, a menos que hayas expresado lo contrario en vida. Yo lo desconocía y, supongo que muchos más lo desconocen. Es triste decirlo, pero, solamente para preservar la integridad del tratamiento médico hacia mi persona: voy a expresar claramente que no quiero donar nada de mi persona. No me fio de este sistema. The more we learn the more it is clear that the Air Traffic Controller was doing his best. His compulsion to take all the blame and responsibility is deeply honourable. He did so acutely aware the world would hear his words. As such he deserves the forgiveness, respect and compassion of all Canadians. His life will be very difficult going forward. Air Canada jet collision at LaGuardia kills 2 pilots. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy confirmed two air traffic controllers were on duty during the crash, dismissing earlier rumors. Investigators say a fire truck on the runway lacked a transponder, preventing the airport’s tracking system from issuing an alert. Este video me lo pasaron anoche, y si se ve que es de los amarillos, se nota que trata de evadir el avión doblando a la derecha (la petición era para cruzar la pista), es decir, si llego a verlo pero no tuvo suficiente espacio para maniobrar, llovía y la pista estaba mojada; y al parecer el piloto trató de frenar con más fuerza al ver el camión según la caja negra.

@ialc68 @GRANOARROZOPITA @chechosangui Cierto en el vídeo real no se ve nada... No puedes confiar ciegamente en nadie y menos si ves que se te viene un avión encima y trabajando en un aeropuerto sabes que un avión no se puede detener repentinamente..

23/Mar ✈️ Un avión de Air Canada chocó contra un camión de bomberos al aterrizar en La Guardia, Nueva York: hay dos fallecidos y más de 40 personas atendidas 🚑 todo apunta a un error en la torre de control, donde autorizaron al vehículo a cruzar la pista justo cuando la aeronave descendía a alta velocidad ⚠️ segundos después intentaron detenerlo, pero ya era imposible evitar el impacto, y el propio controlador terminó reconociendo su error mientras otro operador lo consolaba… la tragedia pudo haber sido mucho peor 😔

Vi un mejor video, y si tienes razón, el modelo es amarillo; y se nota que el del carro de bomberos trata de girar a la derecha para evitar al avión, pero le quedaban solo segundos para la colisión, llovía, y la pista estaba mojada, no mucho margen de maniobra, como siempre en todo accidente.

A United Airlines flight has aborted its takeoff after an anti-ice warning light comes on, flight attendants in the back are feeling ill from an unknown odor, and the crew declares an emergency when no gates are immediately available. A Port Authority fire truck, Truck 1, is dispatched to respond. At the same time, Air Canada Express Flight 8646, a Jazz Aviation Bombardier CRJ-900 operating from Montreal Trudeau International Airport, is on final approach to Runway 4. The lone controller on duty, simultaneously managing both ground and tower operations, clears Truck 1 to cross the runway. Seconds later, as Flight 8646 is landing at between 93 and 105 miles per hour, he realises his mistake. He calls for the truck to stop. Over and over. It is too late. The CRJ-900 strikes the fire truck on Runway 4. The impact destroys the cockpit and tears open the front fuselage. Both pilots are killed. A Delta flight on approach is sent around. Jazz 646 comes to rest on the runway, its nose elevated, its cockpit gone. LaGuardia closes entirely. 72 passengers and four crew members were on board. 41 people are taken to hospital. The fire truck had been sent to help one emergency. It became another. @Ratio_Disputati @Mikeggibbs That is, literally, the air traffic controller's job. He is solely responsible here; the fire truck driver tried to avoid the accident by swerving to the right, and the pilot tried to stop, but they had only a few seconds before the collision.

No, he’s not. Aircraft and vehicles are routinely given ATC clearance to do something like cross a runway, but that is not a guarantee that the runway can be crossed. It is the responsibility of the vehicle operator to *ensure* that the runway is clear *before* entering it, no matter what ATC said.

@ialc68 @Mikeggibbs There are redundancies in place, being the Entrance Lights were RED so it supersedes the controller clearance. Every other vehicle stopped because of that, except Truck 1
