@JamesAFurey College Credit for an “internship” doing this book in Head Starts and Kindergartens with kids one-on-one with a science of reading supervisor instead of taking notes in a class about whatever the next bright idea from the next Lucy Calkins is would do society immeasurable good.

Door to door tutors armed with this book could do immeasurable good, especially in impoverished areas where there is a stronger possibility of parents unable to do it themselves. I'd give money to the charity that provides this.

@usedgov Is this a grand plan to get experienced teachers on board with shutting this down?

Traditional government schools: “If you fail this class, it will go on your permanent record.” Homeschoolers: “failure is a path to finding the right answers and innovation - don’t fret, let’s try again.” We are not the same.

The Holy See is willing to help enemies meet, so they may look each other in the eye and so people may be given back the dignity they deserve: the dignity of peace. With heart in hand, I say to the leaders of nations: let us meet; let us dialogue; let us negotiate!

If there’s a silver lining to this whole tariff mess, it’s that progressives have suddenly become keenly aware that taxes charged to corporations are ultimately borne by consumers.

Should I be holding my little guy back a grade? So much of what I read on X keeps me wondering. May birthday. August 31 is the school year line in Florida. He will be one of the youngest kids. Is it really that big of a deal?

We’re going to make this happen James. The CLT is the gold standard, and our academies need to attract the very best.
James Fishback@j_fishback

Today, I wrote to @PeteHegseth urging him to authorize U.S. service academies like West Point to accept the Classic Learning Test (CLT) for admissions—just as they do the SAT. The @CLT_Exam is surging in popularity among students, parents, and teachers. Why? Because it champions rigor, logical thinking, and deep comprehension of classic texts like the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. The SAT, meanwhile, has ditched America’s founding documents due to their “extended length,” claiming they’re “not an essential prerequisite for college and career readiness.” That’s absurd—and exactly why students are turning to the CLT. In Florida alone, 120,000 students took the CLT in the 2023–2024 school year. Yet not a single one of them is eligible to apply to West Point or the Naval Academy. That must change—and under Secretary Hegseth's leadership, I believe it will. Accepting the CLT will ensure that the U.S. service academies are open to all intellectually capable and morally committed candidates eager to serve their nation.
