How I killed my imposter syndrome The first 3 years of making music I always had this voice in the back of my head “You do not deserve to make music” I remember this constantly messing with me mentally EVERY DAY Although it slowed me down at times, I kept doing everything in my power to make it as a musician Now what changed for me to say that I have legit zero imposter syndrome now? I admitted I sucked and then focused on improving To be completely frank, It is because back then - I was an imposter I did not have enough evidence to back up my theory that I am an amazing artist I was trying so hard to shut that negative voice up when I’m now finally realizing That voice was right The faster I realized this, the faster I was able to actually do the work to prove that voice wrong 5 years later and enough proof has been created I was performing the other day at a magazine release party and thought to myself Wow, I am really doing this shit. I was looking at myself on tape and with complete confidence I could say - I am a fucking artist. Imposter syndrome is a feeling that shows you something very valuable It shows that you currently do not have enough evidence to back up your claims But there is relief in this , because you can change that. You can make that voice shut up - you just need to create the evidence to support against it.

We need more artists creating moments again in the space What happened to the excitement when there was a new drop happening I feel like we lost all of that in exchange for some quick change and diluted our art in the process The bear market isn’t an excuse - let’s turn up !

Music's current system rewards short-term wins at the expense of long-term development. 1. Metrics are low-intent 2. Incentives drive passivity 3. Engines support songs, not artists 4. and now our mindsets chase moments But we can change them.. 1. CHANGE THE INCENTIVES Current engines drive passivity. • Business models • Payout models • Pricing If streamers were slinging merch & memberships, you'd see an artist-first, engaged experience. Passivity is not a default; it's a choice. 2. CHANGE THE METRICS Streams, likes & followers show low-intent. They're just easy to count. But high-intent metrics show fandom. And fandom is real. • Focus on measures of fandom • Create more of them • Make them easy to track Because resources funnel to what we measure. 3. CHANGE THE ENGINES Current engines support songs, not artists. And funding, support & distribution pick winners. If we better monetize fandom, and better measure it, the winners will be promising artists instead of viral tracks. 4. CHANGE THE MINDSET Our current mindset chases moments. But we can stop taking the bait. We can stop chasing big, empty numbers. We can start: • Crafting stories • Creating connections • Building from the ground up It's a new era. Build fans. Build careers. ****** Let's support artists that last. Let's make building for fandom the default mode.

@whoisbrux Often it’s their distrust of crypto, so explaining the benefits of blockchain tech for artists and showing them than crypto currencies aren’t necessary. Although the biggest barrier I’ve found is the inaccessibility for some. Spotify is convenient

There is something so astonishing about the separation between who the person is and the body they live in, and how one can still survive as the other one deteriorates

It is so insane to me that my dad is terminally ill with not a lot of time left and an aggressively progressing condition — and can still rouse on me like only my dad can and say "Bloody Emma, just listen!!!" like I'm 13 all over again.

Can rlly see the power in tiktok for independent self-made artists now - & I’m abt to give it a good shot but it actually just requires SO much time to do well. And I’m still not convinced it translates to many actual fans that’ll buy tix to shows. Do we know abt that yet? Lol

Hi musicians: did anyone else lose mgmt / parts of their team bc of covid (or afterwards)? If so what have u done since? I’d love to talk to anyone else that’s independent / self-managed about it if ur out there. OR also artists that existed pre-covid & have formed teams since
