Hmm i don’t really like the phrase ‘supposed to go for low wage jobs’ because it makes it sound like that’s the natural path for everyone abroad. Some people transition directly, some can’t and that depends on sector, credentials, network, immigration status and local demand.

When I first landed abroad, I didn’t know I was supposed to go for low-wage jobs. I had left Nigeria as a head of advertising - so those were the first roles I started applying for. And yes. I got actual interviews.
