As Trump’s war of choice goes on, every day Americans are paying the price. And now he wants to worsen it by taking away people's health care.

I’m grateful today to be at my home church with Bishop Hickman, grateful today to worship with my community, and grateful today to celebrate Jesus. But even as we celebrate, I know many families and communities are facing dark times: The federal administration is working to take away health care to pay for forever wars, trying to use food assistance as a negotiating tool, and planning to make it harder for us to vote. But we in Maryland are proving there is a better way. We’re fighting back and delivering for the people. We’ve worked with the General Assembly to secure over $3 million for projects like the Park Heights Library and Sinai Hospital, delivered over $75 million for housing and community development, and finalized $400 million to revitalize Pimlico and the surrounding community. On this Easter, let us be more Christlike. Let us pray for those who wish us harm. Let us love and lift up our neighbors. And let us keep the faith, no matter the struggle.

The Divine Nine is family, and when family comes together, we organize, mobilize, and move forward together.

As we close out Women’s History Month, I’m reminded of a simple truth: This work does not happen without the women who power it every single day.

Force should always be the last resort. A mission must be clear. Success requires strong alliances. That's the standard our military leaders have upheld for decades – and it’s a standard that’s not being met today.

I’m truly blessed to be surrounded by and guided by women who believe in me, and it’s a blessing I seek to honor each and every day.

March 26, 2024 will forever be etched in our memories as the day we lost the six hardworking men who were simply doing their jobs on the Francis Scott Key Bridge. They were fathers, sons, brothers, husbands, and friends – and they will never be forgotten: Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, Carlos Daniel Hernandez Estrella, Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez, Jose Mynor Lopez, and Maynor Yassir Suazo Sandoval. Dawn and I pray for them and their families. We continue to keep Julio Cervantes Suarez and Damon Davis in our prayers, offering them strength, healing, and hope.

Tomorrow marks two years since the Dali struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge and I am proud to report on the progress that we are seeing. Not only did we reopen the channel in 11 weeks, when people said it would take 11 months – last year, the Port saw record-breaking container numbers, and that’s only going to grow once the CSX Howard Street Tunnel Project is completed, increasing the Port’s business by around 160,000 containers annually, and generating 14,000 jobs.

I once wore the patch. I know the men and women of the 82nd Airborne Division represent the very best of our nation. When we ask our troops to deploy, they deserve to know that risking their lives was the last option. They deserve clarity and a mission worthy of their sacrifice. I pray they receive it. All the way, paratroopers….

We have a real responsibility to get ahead of technological changes to ensure our communities aren't left behind.
