Quite a good analysis

Anita Among has really fought hard to keep her job. She fought hard for votes -- or at least for visibility - on the campaign trail of the NRM presidential flagbearer. Besides, she fought hard for various NRM parliamentary flagbearers, in the expectation, of course, that they would scratch her back after she had scratched theirs. With the election out of the way, a CEC meeting was quickly held, and it was reportedly resolved that she would be the party flagbearer in the speakership race. There was something strange about the haste. What was stranger still was that, about a month later, a second CEC meeting passed the very same resolution! It's only after the resolution had been made the second time, by the same committee, that the party chairman wrote the letter to the Caucus! It is very interesting that, after all the hard work she put it during the elections, there were these two apparently competing tendencies, one of haste and another of doubt and delay, regarding the resolution. Neither the haste nor the delay would have been necessary if there had been certainty. And then there is Mao. Andrew Mwenda -- whom we can take as a reliable source on this matter -- revealed that, when Mao ran for MP, it was on orders from above. And now, Mao has been invited to the NRM caucus and will be given a microphone at the event. Anita Among has been fighting for her job like someone who got reliable intelligence that it was not secure. The hesitation by CEC and the Mao candidature suggest that, indeed, there may be threats to the job. As they say, it's not over until the fat old lady sings.
