My first official milestone as a media composer! My score was selected for a live performance at a film score festival (filmscorefest.org ). It will be performed by a 16-piece orchestra at a local theater in MN next month. Here is the mockup. youtu.be/8qO119flfpw?si…

My group achieved our first ISMIR acceptance!!!🎉 Proud to get 3 strong accepts + 1 weak accept🤩 The work was done by @handanbinaelin with Rafael Caro Repetto, introducing CNN-based self-supervised learning for analyzing musical modes of Korean folk songs. #ismir2023

Here's one of my favorite things we built into nussl for the tutorial: interaction with any separation algorithm! Pipe audio right into your method from mic or from a file, and listen to results in just a few lines of code. Gain intuition and find bugs quickly!

Video doesn't capture it, but: youtube.com/watch?v=qOxG71… I found it very striking, for reasons I struggle to articulate. Anyone else see it, and have thoughts?

One of my favourite art pieces over the past few years is Ragnar Kjartansson's "The Visitors", which I've experienced (maybe ~4 times all the way through) at SF MoMa and the Phoenix Art Museum: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Visit…
