My twin sister and I are 37 years old, and we are currently living in a situation that feels like a bad joke: the man who disappeared from our lives when we were 10 years old has now reappeared, threatening to sue us for child support.
We are not talking about an absent father who would call or check on us from time to time. We are talking about a man who completely divorced himself from his daughters.
My parents split when my sister and I were 10. He left with another woman and essentially vanished. At first, he promised he would help financially, pay attention, and visit us. Those were lies.

The Evacuation of Ethiopian Jews to Israel
On this day, May 24, 1991, Israel carried out Operation Solomon, a historic mission to evacuate Ethiopian Jews to Israel.
Operation Solomon (Hebrew: מבצע שלמה, Mivtza Shlomo) was a secret Israeli military operation conducted between May 24 and 25, 1991, to airlift Ethiopian Jews from Ethiopia to Israel. During the operation, 35 Israeli aircraft, including Air Force C-130s and El Al Boeing 747s, transported 14,325 Ethiopian Jews to Israel in just 36 nonstop hours.
Today marks the 35th anniversary of the launch of Operation Solomon. In the spring of 1991, Ethiopia had been devastated by years of civil war, while rebel forces were closing in on Addis Ababa, the nation’s capital. The collapse of Mengistu Haile Mariam’s regime created a rare opportunity for the Ethiopian Jewish community, known as Beta Israel, to finally fulfill their dream of immigrating to Israel.
The Israeli government carefully planned the mission, which began on the morning of Friday, May 24. With 34 aircraft operating continuously, more than 14,000 Ethiopian Jews were safely evacuated to Israel within only 36 hours, making it one of the largest and most remarkable airlift operations in history.

I thought I had the perfect relationship until I met his friends.
My boyfriend and I had been together for two years. On the surface, everything looked stable. He was consistent, calm, never shouted, never embarrassed me in public. He always said I made his life peaceful, and I took that as love.
But he never mixed me with his friends.
Whenever they planned hangouts, I wasn’t included. If I asked to join, he’d say,
“It’s just a guy thing,” or “You won’t enjoy it anyway.”
At first I didn’t push it because I trusted him.

I’ve been with my partner for a long time now, and we’ve been through a lot together. She knows I love her, and I know she loves me too.
But as we’ve gotten older and life has changed around us, I sometimes wonder if she truly understands how deeply I care about her and how much she means to me.
She’s wonderful — smart, witty, strong, funny, and genuinely kind without ever needing attention for it. With time, she’s only become more beautiful to me, both inside and out. I’ve known her since we were young, and watching her grow into the person she is today has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
It’s hard for me to fully put my feelings into words. She’s a better person than I am, and I’m a better person because of her.
Last night we spent some quiet time together and afterwards just lay there in silence while I held her, reflecting on all the years we’ve shared.
I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.
She means everything to me.

Nicolas Fouquet, Louis XIV’s finance minister during the early years of his reign, was a generous and extravagant man who enjoyed lavish parties, beautiful women, poetry, and a life of luxury fueled by his love of money.
He proved highly capable and indispensable to the king, so when Prime Minister Jules Mazarin died in 1661, Fouquet anticipated being appointed as his successor.
However, the king chose to eliminate the position entirely. Sensing that he was losing favor, Fouquet resolved to win back the king’s goodwill by hosting the most magnificent celebration the world had ever seen.

My girlfriend said she was sleeping early, so I told her goodnight and dropped my phone. Around 1:13am, I opened TikTok randomly and saw her repost, being loyal to one person is actually hard….

I found out my girlfriend was secretly married because of one mistake she made during a phone call. We had dated for almost three years. Everybody around me knew her. My friends. My siblings. Even my mother liked her.
