The Yobe State Hisbah Commission in Nigeria has destroyed alcohol again. The alcohol was seized on October 8, 2025, from a J5 vehicle transporting it from Jos in neighboring Plateau State (a non-Sharia region). Suspects involved in the transport were arrested, charged in a Lower Shari’ah Court, and convicted under Yobe's anti-alcohol laws. Similar acts to promote moral discipline and eradicate "immoral acts" in Yobe, where alcohol sales and consumption have been banned since the state's adoption of Sharia in 2000, have become increasingly common in recent years. Such raids and destructions now occur frequently in the area, often targeting hotels, vehicles, or markets to deter smuggling and youth partying.
