@elonmusk The way we think in the U.K. it’s not the colour of the people in your life it’s the life in your people. It’s been that way for 400 years of Victory. And it’s not going to change. Get out there and have some fun just do no harm.

The battle of Cape St Vincent was far more than a victory in which the young Nelson distinguished himself. It allowed Rodney to reinforce and re supply Gibraltar which had been under siege.

@colingorrie Interesting. Or it could have been a holla a fox hunting call or hola a greeting in Spanish

“Hello” is one of the most basic words in the English language. But we have no records of it existing before 1826 — so how did “hello” become the default greeting in English? As it turns out, it’s all thanks to one man…

@elonmusk The capacity for veracity of statement is vital otherwise the world divides into opposing mutually uncomprehending camps efficiently going about each other’s destruction. The ability to hold two opposing viewpoints in your mind without judgement is essential in any leadership

It’s “quite hard to find a poor farmer” according to this unpleasant Labour MP. These people think a farm is a family day out from the city - ride the tractor, feed the goats, stroke a guinea pig. As a farmer, let me tell you - it is bloody hard work.

The fact that the world’s richest man got there by solving the world’s biggest problems, rather than playing financial games, is bullish for humanity.

A remarkable transition: Kenya is Africa's leading country when it comes to renewables. In 2000 fossil fuels contributed 60% to electricity generation. Today it is 6%. In 2023 electricity was from almost 50% geothermal, 20% wind+solar and 22% hydro.

I've requested the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office takes steps to ensure that not a penny of British taxpayer money is given to overseas farmers. They have refused to do so. I don't care about farmers in Rwanda or Brazil, I care about British farmers. I'm told that 'Official Development Assistance (ODA) brings other direct benefits to UK farmers' As a farmer myself, I can safely say that the VAST majority of British farmers would prefer this foreign aid was spent on agriculture in OUR country. Put British farmers first.

It would be a terrible idea to admit Ukraine to NATO.
Eric Daugherty@EricLDaugh

🚨 #BREAKING: Ukrainian President Zelensky says he may agree to a truce with Russia without taking any land back from Russia. The exchange would be NATO membership for Ukraine. "We need to do it fast. And then on the [occupied] territory of Ukraine, Ukraine can get them back in a diplomatic way."
