Mr. Reginald Boafo Ankrah, Ph.D., a renowned AI researcher and consultant, convened with the Institute’s AI and engineering team. The purpose of the meeting was to develop innovative ideas to advance the Institute’s core hubs, specifically vaccines, drugs, AI, and diagnostics.

Earlier this week, our Director, Prof. Samuel Kwofie, led an engaging session at the Introduction to Microbial Genomics & Bioinformatics workshop taking place at the University of Ghana, Legon. Prof. Kwofie is one of the organizers of the workshop, which is being held on campus.

As part of the visit of Prof. Nastassia T. Sithole, Vice Dean for Global Engagement at the University of Johannesburg, S.A—an external partner—to the University, the Director of the Institute, Prof. Kwofie, hosted a meeting with the Dean of the International Programmes Office.

Ms. Racheal K. Asare, President of the University of Ghana Chapter of the Ghana Society of Biomedical Engineering, together with other members, presented a citation to Prof. Kwofie, Director of the Institute for his outstanding contributions as the former Head of the Department.

The Director of the Institute, Prof. Kwofie, served as a panelist during the Drug Discovery for Global Health (DD4GH) AI Platform workshop. The event convened over 25 Africa-based researchers to explore how the platform can be adapted for use in low- and middle-income countries
