🇨🇦 ships oil from Burnaby through the Panama Canal to New Brunswick - 14K km - just to supply eastern 🇨🇦. We're the world's 4th largest oil producer. We have no east-west pipeline. That's not bad luck. That's bad policy. Karen Graham & Jock Finlayson: fraserinstitute.org/commentary/can…

BC's forestry crisis isn't a 🇺🇸 problem — it's a Victoria problem. Our Jock Finlayson & Ken Peacock show BC softwood exports to the U.S. were already down 42% from 2016 before Trump. Fibre shortages + regulatory chaos = self-inflicted wound. biv.com/news/commentar…

BC households are the wealthiest in Canada. Median net worth: $773,500 - #1 in the country. The catch? It's almost all locked up in real estate. If the housing slump deepens, those balance sheets dive. ICBA's Jock Finlayson has the full picture 👇 icba.ca/economics-blog…

🚨 New ICBA poll: 68% of British Columbians oppose the Cowichan decision -- including 56% of NDP voters. Eby's own supporters are rejecting his approach. That's not a fringe concern, that's a five-alarm warning. Full results → icba.ca/bc-blog/britis…

🚨 WorkSafeBC just quietly killed its entire fraud investigation unit. 20 investigators - gone. The tip line goes to voicemail. B.C. now the only province with NO ONE investigating workers' comp fraud. Guess who pays? Employers. Always employers. 👇 icba.ca/bc-blog/worksa…

🌲⬇️ NEW from @icbabc’s Jock Finlayson & Ken Peacock: U.S. tariffs aren't BC forestry's biggest problem. Softwood exports to 🇺🇸 were already down 42% before Trump 2.0. Exports to 🇨🇳? Down 80%. 🇯🇵? Down 60%. The real forestry crisis is made in Victoria. icba.ca/economics-blog…

WorkSafeBC's surplus is gone. $8 billion in overspending since 2019. B.C.'s WCB rate was once among Canada's cheapest — now it's near the top. Employers earned that cushion through better safety, but the NDP blew it on mission creep. biv.com/news/commentar…

BC capital projects are billions over budget and years behind schedule. @KielGiddens' new Private Member's Bill would open public construction to all qualified workers — not just the 15% in NDP-friendly building trades unions. ICBA is all in. 🔗 icba.ca/bc-blog/news-r…

Construction is stronger when more people see a future for themselves in the skilled trades. During Women in Construction Week, we recognize the women who are helping shape the industry through their work on job sites, in apprenticeships, in project management, and in leadership roles. PM Carney is in foreign capitals to diversify trade — but our Chief Economist Jock Finlayson says the real problems are right here at home: an uncompetitive tax system & a supply chain where 3 of Canada's 4 busiest ports rank near the bottom globally. calgarysun.com/opinion/column…

Among currently undecided voters – the people who will decide the next election – the picture is a blowout: 49% negative versus just 11% positive. Homeowners reject the budget by more than two to one. British Columbians over 55, the people with the highest propensity to vote, oppose it by roughly three to one.

Among people who say they voted NDP in the 2024 election, the budget is underwater – 36% negative, 35% positive. When you can’t sell your budget to your own supporters, you’ve lost the room.

On Vancouver Island, a devastating 58% rate the budget negatively. In the Interior, it’s 47%. In the NDP’s urban base of Metro Vancouver, negative impressions outpace positive ones by 43% to 29%.

Among all respondents, 46% have a negative impression of the budget, compared to just 26% positive. Strip out the undecided and it’s even starker: nearly two-thirds of decided British Columbians – 64% – view this budget negatively, versus just 36% who see it positively.
