Appreciate your patience PGY-0s! What I think new interns with federal student loans should do: 1) Consolidate 2) choose IBR (assuming you e-filed your 2024 tax return and it was low or $0 income your payment will be $0 regardless of whether IBR is 10 or 15%) 3) once RAP comes alive, probably switch to that. But not 100% sure. That decision needs to be confirmed at that point in time. Notes 📝 - You get payments counting toward PSLF as soon as possible. (Both IBR and RAP count towards PSLF). - the concern of IBR being more expensive at 15% of discretionary income is moot if you e-filed your tax return last year and had no income. (This would be an issue if RAP doesn’t become a reality, but if IBR is the only existing IDR plan, this would be the best option available anyway) - the cost of getting PSLF payments counting sooner is the likelihood that you’ll have to switch plans sometime later this year or early next year. - PAYE will presumably blend into IBR so might as well just do IBR Let me know if y’all have questions. 😊

Trump owes $500 million from his defamation lawsuit. He has not paid it, & owes 175k a day he doesn’t pay. They are not garnishing his wages or assets. Meanwhile, his administration just ruled that student loans, that are not being paid, will be garnished from American’s wages.

Yes, the US government has been subsidizing science. That is not a weakness of our system. It is one of our greatest strengths. Turning our back on NIH and the institutions who do science for the sake of science, not profit, debases us all.
