I Control students learn about a brain skill called Shifting. This means changing the way we think about something or react to something. A student may be upset they aren’t able to eat lunch with their friend. They can shift to see this as an opportunity for new friends!

In Unit 1, I Control students learn about executive functions or brain skills. One of these is working memory! We use this brain skill when we hold information in our mind for a short period of time so we can use it 💡

Have you ever set and achieved a goal? When we commit to our goals, we’re more likely to achieve success if our goals are aligned with our values! 􏰉Values are the ideals and beliefs that w􏰓e care 􏰖about most. They can be things like health, family, friends, and education!

COVID-19 & remote learning created challenges for not only academic instruction but also social-emotional learning instruction. The SEL Providers Council has created a list of FREE resources parents can utilize at home. selproviders.casel.org/sel-resources/ 😊
