I actually think there is a probability that the Iranian government would not choose repression post war because people are already rallying behind the flag and there is a new sense of unity.
And for those who wished a war on Iran, it will be this new unity and the new public opinion in Iran that will discard them organically.

Whatever happens next, this speech confirmed to me that monarchists are cooked.
After this war, the Islamic Republic will have a mandate to repress political opposition, and the monarchists will be unable to return to Iran in their lifetimes, in all likelihood.

Erasing the plurality and pluralism of voices inside Iran, which these people have recently discovered is highly monetizable and profitable, is not “amplifying the voice of the voiceless.” It’s amplifying the voices that *you* favour out of self interest. Just be honest about it.

🚨 I had a phone call interview with President Trump today about Iran. Asked about the strait of Hormuz and his ultimatum, @POTUS said: “You’ll find out what’s gonna happen”. Will they cave in to the ultimatum? “You’re gonna find out soon. It’s gonna be very good. Total decimation of Iran. It’s gonna work out very good.” About NATO countries: “they are not doing anything, it’s too bad”. President Trump added: “They’ve been very bad for 47 years (Iran). Now they’re getting their comeuppance.”

If it comes to pass the destruction of the Iranian power grid would represent a final disavowal of positive regime change as a goal of the war and a discarding of the pro-US/Israel Iranian opposition. The destruction of critical infrastructure in order to deliberately inflict a humanitarian catastrophe would show that they either have no influence on events and were used, or even worse are somehow maliciously committed to destruction of the country. They are aware of this which is why they are engaging in rare criticism of their patron now.

Iran is not the Islamic Republic. Iran’s civilian infrastructure belongs to the Iranian people and to the future of a free Iran. The Islamic Republic’s infrastructure is the machinery of repression and terror used to keep that future from becoming reality. Iran must be protected. The regime must be dismantled. I ask President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu to continue targeting the regime and its apparatus of repression, while sparing the civilian infrastructure Iranians will need to rebuild our country. With the support of the US and Israel, and above all the sacrifice of Iranian patriots, the hour of Iran’s freedom is at hand. Long live Iran!

A kind note to fellow open source researchers:
Do not post the coordinates of videos from Iran that reveal the home addresses of people, particularly if they're chanting anti-government slogans or showing dissent.
It could put them at risk of being identified and detained.

I’ll never forget when I was on the Hill in 2019 when the Notre Dame fire happened. Every member of Congress was talking about it and posting on their socials. Now UNESCO sites in Iran were BOMBED but because they’re not in the west, it’s not viewed as important.

This is Ferdowsi Sq central Tehran. People on the ground say the bombing campaign is beyond anything they have seen and seemingly indiscriminate. Increasingly, Israel and the US appear to be following the Gaza playbook, having failed to achieve a quick regime implosion.
