The Oyo State Government has paid over N37 billion in gratuities and death benefits to retired primary school teachers and local government staff since Governor Seyi Makinde assumed office in 2019.
The Chairman of the Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, announced this during the disbursement of N3 billion in gratuities and death benefits to retired primary school teachers and local government staff on 7 April 2026.
The payment exercise has been decentralised across geopolitical zones to reduce the burden of travel on retirees.

My Dad retired as senior Pharmacist Technician from the Oyo state hospital management board in 2017, and he hasn't gotten his gratuity till date.😭 What a country. Someone that worked for solid 35 years.
Some of his mate have died In the process and others are depending on their children because their hard earn gratuity hanging for more than 9 years now.
