I've never seen a politician chase the votes of the ignorant and unintelligent quite as relentlessly as Polanski. Terrible policy announcements, day after day. Let's see if it pays off for him. ft.com/content/431a16…

@FootballInT80s I mean its easy to pick good goals from literally any year. The most striking observation here, other than state of the pitches, is the amount of time the players have on the ball. You don't get this kind of space now even in the National League.

24/04/1982: “Old football was crap” “The standard was poor” “All long balls, no skill” Mick Channon’s goal for Southampton vs Liverpool in 1982 disproves all of the above and more. You won’t see a better team goal. Pep who?

@technopopulist I mean it was inevitable - Reform had to do it as well. He'll also have to scale back some of the crazy shit, talking about central bank purchasing all govt debt, nationalising everything, will be interesting to see how much he scales back all the insane spending promises.

Polanski now realises that he, like Icarus, has flown too close to the sun. Some of his more extreme policies have handed easy ammunition to both the tabloid and broadsheet press, as well as to his opponents on the left. Pulling back at this stage is a shrewd move, and a rare one in politics.

EXC: YouGov / Sky / Politico London elections MRP projection * Labour look set for big losses across the capital, though not wipe out, as the Greens in particular eat into their once solid London vote * Reform UK are also expected to perform well, picking up significant levels of previous Conservative support in the outer boroughs, and driving into Labour heartlands in Barking and Dagenham * The Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats are expected to hold most of what they have, while Independents and other parties look set to make gains particularly in London’s East According to YouGov's median projection, the following is the number of councils each party is projected to have the highest share of support (compared to 2022) Labour 15 (down 6) Tories 5 (down 1) Lib Dems 4 (up 1) Greens 4 (up 4) Reform 3 (up 3) Too close to call 1 /32 councils:

Striking finding in new @iealondon paper - only 57% of Green voters list Net Zero by 2050 as an important national goal - and not particularly bothered about protecting green spaces, either. Maybe they should rebrand as the Reds?

@cezthesocialist @danbarker @PolitlcsUK I don't think Dan is arguing against that. He's simply pointing out that a 10:1 ratio is absolutely absurd given the international labour market salary for a CEO.

These Generation of Arsenal fans really don’t understand the sacrifices Arsene Wenger Made. Infact without him there would be no Emirates stadium. - Signed a long contract so banks can give Arsenal Loan. - Wages were limited. - Rejected the biggest clubs|countries in the world. EVERY ARSENAL FAN SHOULD WATCH THIS.
𝕜𝔸𝔸𝔻🦁💡@KAAD68

I like the line " it was clear Arsenal cannot compete with them" Maybe it makes sense now when Wenger said, " finishing top 4 is like a trophy". Bcs it was the ultimate goal then, and extremely important. Not Mou, not pep, not Sir Alex or anyone can endure what papa wengz did.

"Let’s compare Polanski’s instant clarity with Starmer’s unhappy and bewildered weekend performance. Polanski rose to the occasion. Starmer dithered, hid behind equivocal statements, only woke up when personally slighted by Trump." We must disentangle our military from the US.

Zack Polanski's Greens have been clear from the start that Britain must stay out of America and Israel’s stupid, barbaric and criminal war on Iran. No wonder they've overtaken Labour in the polls. My new column for Middle East Eye: middleeasteye.net/opinion/us-war…
