Looks like the leakers got threatened with legal action by agencies. They've put out similar statements about how "all players wanted to keep playing" and that "it was a mutual agreement that satisfied both parties". Yao-a-yao seems to have confirmed it in replies.

During his time on the roster, Player Jiejie's commitment to competing to the team was unquestionable. Player Jiejie never showed any negative behaviours being spread as rumours online. If further negative rumours are wilfully spread online, we may engage in legal action. 2/2

right after cutting their salaries, they play and immediately lose another game. the moment I was scrolling and saw that after dropping to Nirvana they were going to cut their salaries, I knew that their year was ruined. You know what I mean? this is an involuntary pay cut (3/3)

that has got to be the most unhealthy ecosystem for playing in pro play. First, you sign four players with relatively high salaries, and then you drop into Nirvana. Once you fall into Nirvana, you change your mind and tell them you're cutting their pay (2/3)

@sixthousandj Yeah but you also can't run a league without any sort of tier 2 scene, and 4 teams isn't enough to sustain it. 3 of the traditional academy teams already have 9+ players on them.

Seems like the rumour about VCT CN teams being required to field league teams is true...... I'd expect most of them to compete in the LDL (tier 2), where decreasing interest and investment reduced it to just 3 teams briefly this year!

TE and XLG also started League rosters, with recruitment being posted before this stage. It is rumoured that all VCT CN teams must have a League team next year in order to have a chance at partnership which is likely what brought this on.
