If you've been a conservative for longer than Trump has been in politics, and find yourself befuddled by recent uses of words that you believe you once understood. Here is a thread of new words, and words with new definitions to help you in this bizarre political landscape.

This gentleman has a unique pet. This is his pet possum. They are North America’s only marsupial. They are very misunderstood. They rarely get rabies, eat tons of insects, may show teeth and hiss but are very shy. Have you ever seen a pet possum? You have now.

@OpenAI I don't get it. Did any version ship with the malicious version 1.14.1 of Axios or not?

OpenAI
OpenAI@OpenAI·
We recently identified a security issue involving the third-party developer library Axios that was part of a broader industry incident. We found no evidence that OpenAI user data was accessed, that our systems were compromised, or that our software was altered. Out of an abundance of caution we are taking steps to protect the process that certifies our macOS applications are legitimate OpenAI apps. We are updating our security certifications, which will require all macOS users to update their OpenAI apps to the latest versions. This helps prevent any risk—however unlikely—of someone attempting to distribute a fake app that appears to be from OpenAI. You can update safely through an in-app update or at the official links below. 🧵

@GBNT1952 Come on, everyone knows that it was Mossad that planted the note in some tranny-furry's bedroom under his keyboard. There's no other explanation. They literally have nothing else to do. /s

@3YearLetterman Dozens of my neighbors gathered in the street last night to hold a candlelight vigil for Dom and pray for his reinstatement to the monetization program. Most of them were crying.

The free market has become so dominant that it has largely eliminated the traditional economic incentives for war, at least on a rhetorical level. Look around: your entire modern life is built on an incredibly efficient global market system. Take something as simple as a pencil try tracing the origin of every component. It’s nearly impossible, because it draws from resources, labor, and knowledge spanning dozens of countries. This system has delivered unprecedented human prosperity. We’ve become so wealthy that we now complain our houses (which ironically do not belong to the free market and have featured supplier restrictions) are overflowing with “stuff” that’s too easy and cheap to buy. We even coined the term “consumerism” as an insult hurled at the very system our ancestors built one that has lifted living standards higher and faster than at any other time in history. Historically, almost every war was fundamentally driven by the pursuit of resources, land, wealth, or power. Leaders might wrap it in moral language, but the core motive was usually acquiring what others had. Today, when people in anti-war circles on X say things like “old men send young men to war for their own gain,” they’re not entirely wrong it’s always been that way. The real difference now is that the spoils of war no longer clearly benefit the average person in developed nations. Modern conflicts often lack obvious, tangible gains that improve our lives or economies.
