Some local Arkansas myths and legends ahead of Phoebe’s show at the Rev Room in Little Rock tonight! 🛸🫈 Arkansas has a long history of UFO sightings, dating back to 1897. The 1896-97 airships phenomena was an event in which thousands of people across the US claimed to observe “mystery airships.” The phenomena started in California and moved eastward throughout the country. Arkansas also has a rich folklore of cryptids, notably including the Fouke Monster, the Ozark Howler, and the Gowrow. The Fouke Monster, also known as the Boggy Creek Monster or Swamp Stalker, is described similarly to Bigfoot and was allegedly first spotted in Fouke, Arkansas in the 1970s. The Ozark Howler is described as a bear-like creature living in the woods of the Ozark. The Gowrow is said to be a creature with two tusks on its head and can grow up to 20 feet in length, and is named after the sound it reportedly makes when it kills its prey.
