I'm talking about this for the first time because, at first, I genuinely thought some people simply had an issue with those who support Taehyung and Jungkook together, or with the subunit name "Taekook" itself. I thought the problem was only with the name or banners. But now it's becoming more and more clear that this is selective activism. I watched countless people create outrage over Taekook banners at concerts, calling them inappropriate and demanding that they be banned. Yet when it comes to other ships, especially Jik0ok-related projects, the same people suddenly go silent. Yesterday, I didn't see a single major OT7 account calling out Jik0ok banners with the same intensity. And now there are even posts asking BIGHIT to stop people from bringing TK banners into concerts. Why? If you're truly against shipping culture, then your standards should apply equally to every ship not only the ones you personally dislike. How is it acceptable for fans to send gifts referencing Jik0ok to Jimin's father's café and call him the "Jikook president," but people aren't even allowed to put Taehyung and Jungkook's names together on a banner? They will attack everyone who support taehyung and Jungkook together Jikook supporters are allowed to paint murals in city and organize large-scale projects, yet Taekook supporters can't even organize an exhibition without facing backlash. How is that fair? If the same standards are meant to apply to everyone, why others are attacked simply for holding a banner with two members' names? Whether it's a Taekook banner, a Jikook banner, or any other pairing, the rules should be the same for everyone. Right..?? It's the inconsistency of this fandom who they often speaks about respecting boundaries, but those boundaries seem to be enforced selectively depending on which narrative is favored. That's not fairness. That's hypocrisy. And before anyone says I'm only speaking because I'm a Taekook supporter: yes, I support Taehyung and Jungkook respectfully. I've supported them since 2016. You will never find me sexualizing them, invading their privacy, or spreading inappropriate content. Supporting a bond respectfully is completely different from crossing personal boundaries. I've been in this fandom long enough to watch it change over the years. What disappoints me most is seeing people apply different standards depending on what benefits their side. If you're against shipping culture, be against all of it equally. If you support fan projects, support equal treatment for everyone. But picking and choosing based on personal preferences only exposes selective behavior. Because if your principles only apply to people you disagree with, then they were never principles to begin with. The irony is that you're opposing something Taehyung and Jungkook created and acknowledged themselves, while defending a name that was created entirely by the fandom. Funny how "respecting artists" suddenly becomes selective when it doesn't fit certain narratives.
