@amyalby2904 @Retro_NUFC That’s a good point and helpful to know. A transplanted tag is still a tag lying about the garment around it. The thread colour, seam construction, wear pattern and many factors have to match the tag’s era too.

@iiwillloveit @Retro_NUFC Given the amount I’ve seen through working from Kitlegit I’ve seen these professionally seen back in Trust me - these look convincing. This is a reason why tags should only ever be an indicator for authentication.

Every legit check I’ve done comes back to the tag. Not the badge. Not the fabric feel. The tag. Fonts, weight, letter spacing, care symbols, country of manufacture. That’s where a fake stops being convincing. It’s the one part a counterfeiter can’t fake without the artwork.

@Retro_NUFC @iiwillloveit We’re also seeing people removing genuine Umbro neck tags (often from battered/ kids shirts) and stitching them into genuine shirts. Authenticating via a neck tag should be an indicator - not a fool proof way of authentication a shirt 😊

I’ve spent years learning this the slow way. Buying, selling, getting things wrong, speaking with collectors who’ve forgotten more than I’ll ever know. So I put it into skill files you load into Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. Describe a tag, the AI walks the checks with you.

The problem: if you collect or resell pre-2000, the information barely exists. Decent coverage of modern product codes. Almost nothing on reading an Umbro diamond by decade, an Adidas trefoil label, or what a genuine late-eighties care label should actually say.

Watching my #nufc idols train at Maiden Castle in the 90s was absolute heaven. I vividly remember Keegan being available for photos, talking to everyone and controlling any chaotic fanatical crowds. What a magnetic character. Long live King Kev. 👑 I will love it. 🖤🤍

When I was a kid I invented my own sportswear brand. It was called AdPo - after my own name. Designed the kits. Made up the colour ways. Drew the logo over and over in the back of school books. I had no idea you could do this for a living, I just loved shirts so much.

A selection of mostly match worn 1990-92 England Youth shirts by Umbro plus an original World Cup 90 and 3rd replica.   The 1990-92 is probably my favourite England shirt design and just eclipses the Admiral 1980-83.   Barring the above and the Euro 92 edition which still eludes me, is there any other shirt of this type with tournament embroidery under the England badge that I am missing?
