🇩🇪 Germany Launches EV Subsidy The German government wants to subsidize the purchase of electric cars by private individuals with up to €6,000. The basic subsidy for purely electric cars will be €3,000, and €1,500 for certain plug-in hybrids and cars with range extenders, announced Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider (SPD). The federal government has agreed on the key points. From January 1, 2026, newly registered cars purchased or leased by private individuals will be eligible for subsidies. A total of €3 billion will be available, which should be enough for around 800,000 vehicles. The general income limit for the subsidy is a taxable household income of €80,000. There is a €1,000 surcharge for households with an income of up to €60,000 and a further €1,000 surcharge for incomes up to €45,000. The subsidy amount also increases by €500 per child, up to a maximum of €1,000 in total.
