@AshleyRBartley @GovPhilScott The whole point of this legislation is to help that home stay just as warm with less fuel. If they use 700 gal instead of 900 they will save. We need to get real about how staying stuck in a fill the tank model is the real tax on rural Vermonters.

@ilikemikevt @GovPhilScott On average it takes 900 gallons of propane to heat a home. This legislation will add, at least, $630 dollars to the heating bills. Rebranding this bill as the Affordable Heat Act is disingenuous. This is a carbon tax - the same tax Montpelier have been peddling for a decade.

Today, @GovPhilScott vetoed S.5. I will vote to sustain the Governor’s veto. Vermonters, especially those in rural areas of the state, cannot afford an additional $0.70 per gallon tax on their home heating fuels. This bill is regressive and hurts the most vulnerable.

NGL just a little disappointed that no local troupe has asked to set up their cookie stand outside the store.

@thevpo1 I think maybe you’re mixing up a conference committee on FY23 budget adjustment with a public hearing on the FY24 budget (which likely did happen back to back). Conference committee meetings wouldn’t need to be warned and are usually squeezed in when conferees can get together.

Maybe someone better informed than me can explain it, but it seems like a violation of the legal obligation to warn meetings. I'd checked the conference committee's webpage as recently as 3:30 and I saw no mention of any meeting.

The House-Senate conference committee on the budget adjustment act called a meeting very much last minute today at 4:30. I didn't hear about it until about ten minutes ago. Now they've adjourned in advance of a public hearing at 5:30. What the blue hell.

Don't forget to check to see if you have any unclaimed property! It takes under a minute and you can get your assets mailed directly to you. Vermonters, if you have questions, feel free to reach out to the Treasurer's office at MissingMoney.Vermont.gov or (802) 828-2407. 🧵1/3

House Gov Ops & Military Affairs’ first bill passed. H.42 is on to the Senate! It extends temporary remote public meeting and Town Meeting flexibility through 2024. We will review these policies and weigh concerns about access with a long-term proposal this session. #vtpoli

The lack of a House speaker is a national security issue. Members of the House Intelligence and Armed Services Committees aren’t receiving classified briefings or conducting oversight of NatSec agencies. Republicans must end the chaos!
