Today marks a major win for Helium and The People’s Network! The SEC has agreed to dismiss its unregistered securities claims with prejudice. Helium Hotspots and the distribution of HNT, MOBILE, and IOT through the Helium Network are not securities. It also means that the SEC cannot bring these charges against Helium again.
With this chapter finally closed, Helium, DePIN, and crypto can now move forward with full confidence, accelerating real-world adoption and innovation in the industry.
Together, we’ll fight for a future where everyone and everything can connect freely—without the barriers of inflated costs or gatekeepers standing in the way.

Helium v3 is the way...
• For the IOT and MOBILE networks to scale their ecosystems.
• For the protocol to continue to decentralize and bring more on-chain.
• For the ENERGY network to join this ecosystem.
• For these networks to gain from the expertise and the value of the entire @helium ecosystem.
• For all networks to define their own supply and demand side economics in a market driven way.
• For core developers to make these extensions available as a platform for other DePIN teams.
HIPs 20, 25, 51-53, 70, 124, and 128 were just the beginning. The Network of Networks will be realized. We have the team to make this happen and I'm proud to lead it.
More to come but expect a draft proposal or long form blog in a about week and a full discussion on Discord in the coming weeks. I'm excited to engage with everyone about this at @token2049 and @SolanaConf as well!

Back in 2020, IoTeX coined the term ‘MachineFi’ to describe the concept of connecting real world devices to blockchains.
Today, this concept has evolved into DePIN, where IoTeX continues to lay the groundwork.

🤔 Do you know where the DePIN concept was born? During this week's interview with @Raullen, Co-founder at @iotex_io & @machinefilab, he shared the backstory. Here's what Raullen said 🔽 "We grow the ecosystem on chain in the year of 2020. At that time, the DeFi and NFT game was popular, right? Over popular at that time, so we have roughly 200 those projects sprouting on IoTeX Layer 1 chain. That was a huge success! Then starting from the year of 2021/2022, we started to think about, okay, so how about the IoT part, right? We promised the world that we’re connecting blockchain to the real world. Where’s the bridge? Where’s the connector? So then we came up with MachineFi. Messari [@Old_Samster] says, 'Oh, let’s call it DePIN. Let’s just call DePIN altogether.' That’s where DePIN as a term basically emerged, around the year of 2021 or 2022-ish.
