Disclaimer... I'm not claiming that Ilia has perfect STSQ in the classical sense,but he has phenomenal ankle mobility,which is why he can so easily and smoothly execute difficult steps within the STSQ framework and has no problems with edges on toe jumps 👇

did u take "maintaining a deep edge on a well-curved lobe" to mean taking a longer time to complete a turn? 😭 the point of having deep edges is to glide faster to complete a step/turn. yuma literally completes a counter w good entry/exit edges 0.62 seconds faster than ilia here.

this is a fundamental misunderstanding of what deep edges are. deep edges arent just about how angled your skate is for a second, it's maintaining an angled blade throughout a well curved lobe, best demonstrated on one foot. here's a good vid that explains it.

I better not see USA stans LYING that Yuzu was "overscored" in Beijing SP again. 👺 If he'd landed a perfect +5 GOE 4S, he'd have 109.7, which is several points below his best. So don't pretend 95 was too high bc it wasn't. They lowered GOE on all elements after the ice hole pop.

This most difficult step sequence ever in men's, flawlessly executed by Yuzuru Hanyu who has some of the best SS in men's skating history, did not receive perfect GOE.
Let's think about that after today's scoring.

@illegal_tweeter @vampire_wave Once you learn more about ice skating you’ll learn the basics and the importance of performance. It’s important to learn your edges that’ll get you far. Being able to have charisma and understand your posture your centring you’ll go far! Jumps come later ❤️

at the end of the day everyone can say their pieces and opinions but it won’t make people who actually care about art respect what you say in anyway.

criticism is a fundamental part of art, but it requires actually engaging with the work. if you don’t approach it with a basic level of respect, in my eyes you’re just pretending to care about art (fs in our case) and your criticism becomes meaningless instantly.
