I am still at the hospital since yesterday, and until now I haven’t slept even a single minute throughout the entire night. You all know that my mother has suffered a lot, and has been losing her health little by little here, due to repeated losses of her son and her husband, and the loss of safety. Her immune system has become very weak. My mother is now experiencing a severe health condition. I don’t want to go into the topic of loss and grief—you already know that. Truly, for the first time in my life, I am asking you sincerely, from the bottom of my heart: I am in a critical and frightening situation. I no longer feel what is happening around me, and my mind has stopped thinking. I don’t want to go through anything bad at all—what I have already been through is enough. Whether you care or not, I will not talk about my academic achievements, nor about Eid, nor about Eid sweets. I am talking about what truly worries me, and what truly scares me. Aren’t you here so I can share these moments with you? Aren’t you here to carry with me a part of a catastrophic reality that is slowly destroying me? All I ask for is your prayers.

My sister sent me a picture of her daughter (hoor), happy in her Eid clothes, while I am at the hospital with my mother. It feels so different, as if we are living in completely separate worlds. It’s beautiful that she is finally happy.

The past three days have been extremely stressful and draining. The attack led by @SuellaBraverman @PatrickChristys and amplified by their followers and @GBNEWS viewers, simply because I want to bring my three children (all under five) and my husband with me during my MA journey, has been vicious. @SuellaBraverman, your own parents came to the UK as immigrants and built their lives there. If the rules you are advocating today had applied then, you might have grown up in India or Africa, not in Britain. I don’t understand why @SuellaBraverman hasn’t been asked to comment on my case on @GBNEWS . Maybe it’s because her own parents were immigrants? I acknowledge that deleting my viral tweet and deactivating my account after receiving a wave of hateful messages was a huge mistake. I will not hide. I will not stay silent. I will defend my rights that are defined and permitted under the UK visa system. Being accused of visa fraud before I have even set foot in the UK is deeply unjustifiable. My sole intention in coming to the UK is to pursue my MA.
