Spotify has 96 different user account types. 96! Each pays a different per stream rate. Here's what they are: (Note: these are from my label in September) 1. Overall average was $0.00346 per stream. 2. But, after I paid back thousands in Discovery Mode on top of this (30% royalty reduction), my true overall average = $0.00299 per stream 🫠 3. 98% of streams come from 5 account types. 4. Family plans do the most damage, as they're as low as ad-supported but driving far more streams. 5. Country matters -- a stream in the US is worth 5.5x more than one in India. - USA = $0.00334 - India = $0.00061 6. An important take away: There is no defined "stream rate". It's all based on: - how much the user pays - what account type - where they are - total streams in that bucket 70% of the revenue from each bucket gets split out pro-rata to each song. Repeat.
