@haibaneinsect More sky when a screen is 100 feet tall is amazing but on a laptop or 75” TV it’s just pixels for the sake of it. IMAX is a theatrical experience, not just an aspect ratio. Nolan and Denis have both been on record saying the expanded is meant for the cinema. 1.90 is fine at home.

IMAX having this aspect ratio exclusive to only be in their special little cinemas is anti-art. Make the fact the screen in the IMAX cinema is huge as the selling point, not that you can only see the full authentic vision of the director in that specific cinema.

PROJECT HAIL MARY is one of the greatest space adventure films of all time. It’s gorgeous, full of heart, and Gosling is spectacular. He gave his all to this one and you’ll be in awe. If you’ve fallen out of love with going to the movies, I promise this one will win you back.

Last year I took it upon myself to fly to another state to watch a movie on IMAX 70mm purely out of just love for the format, as well as the filmmaker behind the project. A lot of people made fun of me for it, some were even friends.
That opened my eyes quite a bit

I would actually love to hear a cinematographer explain why so many movies look like this now? It’s not just marvel, even comedies that are shot on location constantly have this out of focus background that makes everyone look like they’re standing in front of a green screen

@brando @projecthailmary They’re naturals in front of the camera but they were graceful and patient as I worked with the optical filters to get the best shots possible. It was a lovely time.
