Apple promised Apple Intelligence in June 2024. Did not ship it. iPhone 15 Pro owners waited nine months. Got sued. Lost the lawsuit. Now Apple is paying $250 million. $95 per person. For selling them a feature that did not exist. The settlement covers iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. And all iPhone 16 models. People who bought between June and March. Got promised Siri upgrades. Got nothing. Got promised on-device processing. Got nothing. Got promised faster performance. Got the same phone. Apple's strategy was ship the hardware. Promise the software. Release the software six months later. Call it an update. Charge full price for incomplete product. When sued. Pay a settlement. Call it resolved. The $250 million is marketing spend. Apple made $90 billion in revenue last quarter. $250 million is noise. The people who bought iPhone 15 Pro got $95. Apple got to sell incomplete phones. Then delay the completion. Then settle for 0.0027 percent of quarterly revenue. The lawsuit proved Apple knew the features would not ship at launch. Sold the phones anyway. Marketed them as having features they did not have. Then delayed nine months. Then paid a settlement smaller than one day's revenue. That is not punishment. That is the cost of fraud.
