@apraxia12 You're one of the OGs man. I attribute much of the growth of the tournament scene (especially in the US) to your influence and leadership, not to mention the effect that you had on me personally. That legacy is forever even if you've moved on to other things in life.

@nemroz_osu i think taking half of a pool should give u pretty good skillset coverage most of the time even if it has some weird overlaps with the other pool

@uatzappp but yea also having some sort of cadence where pools are rotated and selected from probably works too

@imafancylad I feel like if the pools were mixed it could make some very wack stuff depending on the pools selected, like what etx did, I had a match that almost all maps were tapping heavy maps what if there was like a daily pool (for each rating range) so you can play it before hoping on?

@puyuosu rolling for it is equally as random as the bot just picking one of the two pools, this does nothing to mitigate practice advantage

@imafancylad i think a better way of balancing this is whoever wins the roll gets to play the pool they chose. theres still an rng factor but its not as random as it is rn and also i think the bot selecting half the maps would cause issues with balancing and such (i might be wrong for this)

@uatzappp i feel like in a bo9 with pools around ~20 maps u should have options either way unless ur really one-dimensional, yea theres rng about what maps get selected but it mitigates the advantage of practice vs sightread

The only thing i dont like about romai is that there are pools you can choose. I think it would be cooler if every match had its own pool out of maps which fit the elo. (Like etx but with picks)

@__emiIia idk. i think the fact that the game even continues to function at all (even haphazardly) is a testament to how many passionate people there are in the community. and afaik tournaments are the only thing even remotely close to compensating the people involved

@__emiIia and if u dont like how artistic expression is undervalued in our society then it seems like passion-driven subcultures should be seen as a good thing and encouraged? but maybe im too much of an idealist...

@__emiIia essentially i think that the effects of the "entitlement culture" you're describing won't be that meaningful and/or will be offset by increased rg sales to western countries, increased interest in and exposure to other rgs, etc.
