Isn't it crazy how we've lived for centuries (probably much more...) without social media? 😲 It's even wilder to think about how it's shaping our lives today. A black hole, sucking up all our focus, our mental, and vital energy day after day. And we're so in this, we fear the idea of ever escaping its pull.

I just learned that my company is laying me off on December 1st after working there for 7 years. While there is a severance for me, luckily, I am definitely nervous about my future. I would love to do art full time in this space and while I continue to look for work I am also not going anywhere as far as my art and the many friends I have made here. I will not be defeated! I am still looking for a way to break through, on a smaller level, so I can get something off the ground that I have built long ago - an adult party game with a unique idea. But I need to trademark it, clean it up some, make a free web version for it, and offer physical copies to fans. It's a big roadmap and I wish I could start talking about it but I've lived paycheck to paycheck for basically all of my adult life and haven't had the opportunity to take care of these things. For anyone out there who is like me with dreams, ambitions, goals - just keep coming back, don't give up. And if you need to pivot then do that, but don't quit. I am working every day towards something even if it takes me half my life to get there. Morph will be here.

I'm doing a little account cleanup. It's crazy how many "AI artist" (guys/girls) I followed have been silent for months or have abandoned ship recently. It's sad, but following inactive accounts is pointless. 😢 (I've already unfollowed 150 users. Hope the algo doesn't get upset. If it does, then as always, go **** yourself, un-dear algo.) I'm even unfollowing some I've been connected with for a decade, either from my days of teaching Italian online or because our paths crossed during various courses we joined over the years. We were all in it for the long run. But life changes, ideas evolve, ambitions shift, priorities realign... Many of them have moved on in different years, 2015, 2018, 2020, 2022... and I've got no choice but to unfollow them too. Bye bye, guys and girls, goodbye! 👋

@katiemorrisart Illogical and yet, our brains recognize the patterns. Absurdity and body horror have never felt so seperate and yet so together.

I’ve been reverting to MJ v4a recently. There’s something so special about early versions of AI models. They mark a significant point in time - when AI was distinct for its imperfectness and illogicality. I enjoy the inherent flaws, inconsistencies and idiosyncrasies found within these models. The delicacy of figures and clothing. The hands with 8 fingers and uncanny faces made of contorted features. These traits will eventually become obsolete; at the moment it seems to be all about training AI to create picture perfect outputs. I feel it could very well be that artists of the future will attempt and aspire to recreate this early AI aesthetic.

The week is rounding its end and I have no artwork to share with you. All I've produced has been study material. When I have weeks like this I get self conscious about my work. But I want to share this for other creatives to offer some words of encouragement:
