@Ryoma_Maeda It’s such a small detail, but being able to see the staples on the side of the booklet is a reminder of what music consumption was like before the internet, and lets a new generation partake in the concept physical media even though it’s not in their hands. So cool!

@ichicoaoba Nakata has a long history of being niche and actually blew up from producing Perfume. Which I know you said that you know but like.. I wouldn’t say he counts. Most of the experimentation he did to refine what later became Kyary would be his earlier Shibuya Kei influenced projects

@imalexhammer @NotRealMusic I hear zero connection between Bjork and Magbay, which is basic synth-pop. Even Brat is more "experimental" or "boundary pushing." Mica's voice is insufferable and people say the same about Bjork, so I guess that's similar.

WHAT IS POP ALBUM OF THE DECADE??

@vocal_ism @NotRealMusic Mag bay is clearly inspired by prog rock which is by definition experimental. If you don’t have the ears to figure that one out maybe learn more about music before committing to a music-themed twitter account.

@NotRealMusic amazing albums, but for me it’s between Brat and Imaginal Disk. I think based on music alone I would have to pick Imaginal Disk. That said, for an award like pop album of the year we also have to take into account cultural impact, so if I’m judging based on both it goes to Brat.

@vocal_ism @NotRealMusic You’re a Björk fan… why would you dislike Magdalena Bay??? They are the most experimental and boundary pushing of the albums presented here, and if you like Björk, you should have an ear for that. Like I get it’s subjective but I just feel like in this case it really is not 😭
