In this season of Odyssey-mania, it's hard to ignore the frustrated Homeric wanderings of #Venezuela democracy leader María Corina Machado — and the pseudo-god who's decreeing them. My @WLRN commentary.wlrn.org/commentary/202…

Yes, Maduro's last known call was with President Erdogan. It's likely that Trump asked him to persuade Maduro to leave power peacefully and seek refuge in Turkey. But Maduro ignored the message, and chose instead to sing and dance while the military assets were on the Caribbean.

My own experience with her was almost identical to what’s described in the quote below. She used English selectively, depending on who she was speaking to. A decade ago, she was a hardliner — consistently pushing an anti‑U.S., anti‑hegemony narrative and framing the opposition as collaborators of Western actors to justify regime survival. Today, for the sake of that same survival, she has embraced a completely different approach. It’s a 180‑degree shift driven not by ideology, but by political necessity. "Which may help explain Rodríguez’s careful manner. She speaks regularly with President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and her English is nearly flawless. Yet when she sits down with TIME for a rare interview with an American media outlet, she summons a translator. I suggest it would be easier to speak in English. “When I do interviews, I like to do them in Spanish,” she says. “I’m not sure that’s best for this one,” I say. “It is best for me,” she replies with a faint smile. It’s easy to understand her strategy. Speaking through an interpreter slows the conversation and gives Rodríguez greater control over the words that ultimately reach the page. It is the instinct of a disciplined operator who has spent decades in one of the world’s most unforgiving political systems—and who is now navigating an extraordinary diplomatic moment."

The reporting revealed festering decay and little ongoing maintenance at all three facilities, underscoring the monumental challenges Venezuela faces in restoring its oil infrastructure to the benefit of its citizens, even as President Trump promises $100 billion in investments by foreign oil companies. reuters.com/business/energ…

Vow. I never thought I'd see this from the Delcy regime. The Venezuelan🇻🇪 authorities summoned the Iranian🇮🇷 ambassador in Caracas and delivered a formal protest note over what it called derogatory and inappropriate remarks about the country's institutions and authorities.

First moving closer to Israel, then withdrawing from the ICC, and now formally protesting Iran. Delcy Rodríguez's Venezuela is increasingly aligning its foreign policy with Washington. At this rate, Venezuela is starting to look like the 51st U.S. state in foreign affairs.

I told @elespanolcom given her political legitimacy and the influence she wields over a broad segment of the opposition, it will be very difficult to reach a sustainable agreement without María Corina's participation to the dialogue process. elespanol.com/mundo/america/…

The Trump administration is changing how some asylum claims move through the immigration system, allowing U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to refer certain applications directly to immigration judges without first interviewing applicants. foxnews.com/politics/exclu…

Reading the Nixon Doctrine again after five decades, I was surprised by how similar it is to today's U.S. policy on Venezuela.

Venezuela has notified the UN that it's withdrawing from the ICC.The Maduro regime has been under ICC investigation for alleged crimes against humanity for years but never withdrew. Now, after US's recent move against the ICC, it does. The timing really shows who runs the country
