There’s been some reporting that “General Sherman” for Elmer Soderblom is a sequoia reference.
Not quite.
From what I’ve gathered, it’s a nod to William Tecumseh Sherman, who destroyed and burned straight through anything in his path.

Rickard Rakell was walking to the team bus after the game. Dan Muse chased him down just to shake his hand. There is a togetherness on this team that is clear. There is also a feeling that this team loves its coach.
