@imnotmarr @Raion74_ One of the reasons he does this is that a fundamental aspect of Gunther’s character is that while he’s the best wrestler, when he’s pushed too far, he’s a coward, the same way a bully is when you stand up to him. Same reason he panicked against punk when he bled.

Gunther learned from his mistakes in the first match against AJ Styles and was doing everything to protect his leg.
He avoided Dropkick to the knee, blocked Dragon Screw and Calf Crusher attempts and when Styles finally locked him in the submission, he was ready for it and turned it into Sleeper Hold.
Gunther proved once again why he's the Ring General. Brilliant performance.
