Kwara Govt Flags Off Summer Edition of Coding and Digital Literacy Programme The Kwara State Government has officially announced the commencement of the Summer Holiday Edition of the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at equipping young learners with 21st-century digital skills. The programme, spearheaded by the Office of the Special Assistant on Digital Innovation, will enter its second phase on Monday, August 4, 2025, across designated public schools in the state. This phase focuses on Coding and Innovation Thinking, building on the success of the earlier phase that introduced students to foundational digital literacy. According to a statement from the office, the initiative is part of the administration’s broader commitment to preparing Kwara’s next generation for success in a technology-driven world. Programme Highlights: Hands-On Coding Fundamentals: Students will learn programming basics using languages such as Python and Scratch, empowering them to create simple applications and interactive games. Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Real-world challenges will be used to nurture computational thinking and solution-oriented mindsets. Creativity & Digital Confidence: Project-based learning activities will help students explore their creative potential and build confidence in using digital tools. The programme will be delivered by experienced instructors supported by dedicated supervisors, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants—regardless of their background or previous exposure to technology. To ensure quality and accountability, a monitoring team comprising officials from the Kwara State Government House, the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, and the Business Innovation and Technology Unit will oversee implementation across all participating centers. “This initiative is not just about learning to code,” the statement emphasized. “It is about developing problem-solving skills, innovative thinking, and leadership capabilities needed to thrive in the digital era.” The programme reflects the Kwara State Government’s ongoing efforts to build a future-ready generation, capable of contributing meaningfully to the state’s socio-economic development and Nigeria’s global competitiveness. Parents, guardians, and school administrators are urged to support participating students and ensure they are fully engaged in this transformative learning experience.
